The sound of children walking through the doors, registering and talking, was the best thing that we volunteers loved to hear as soon as we finished our daily prayer. Watching the children rush through the hallway to the room, made each one of us smile. The little children were a bit sad about leaving their parents, but keep in mind it was the first day. Aunty Wei Ping was in charge of all teaching the marvelous song to the lovely children. The smile on their faces grew bigger as Wei Ping taught the songs. The life of Joseph was the main present for the dvbs. This story taught the children that they should not boast about what they have and that the Lord will deliver you in any trouble if you trust in him. Children were separated into three groups. Pre- Primary, primary and junior. The children did little sessions with their assigned teacher and they loved it. They did lots of things including making a barn in crafts time. We provided the lovely children snacks and continued teaching about God’s word. Teachers were also there to counsel each student to make them draw more near to God and accept Him as their personal Saviour. Altogether it was a successful first day of DVBS.
Just as the first day of DVBS, we started our daily morning prayer and as soon as we finished, the lovely children were at the door. They sang their songs, learned the rest of Joseph’s story, went with the assigned teachers, made a lovely barn house in crafts time, ate delicious snacks, continued working on crafts and other sessions like buying items with shares. They had a really fun time. Aunty Alice counselled at least 18 students. They were all disappointed to leave but they knew tomorrow was going to be even better!
Today was the last day for crafts and the kids did a good job designing their own garden pail. They had yummy cupcakes and were really happy throughout the day!
By the time it was the last day of DVBS, all the kids knew their songs and memory verses by heart! Volunteers packed all their crafts and stacked them. They were most excited because we had a huge water fight! Later, the kids got to perform the songs they learned in front of their parents and we were all proud of them! We could see disappointment in some of their faces, but that’s why there is a DVBS next year too!
