Charles Spurgeon once said in regards to a prayer meeting, “Here is the powerhouse of this church.” Indeed, prayer is vital in the life of a believer and necessary for a church to survive. As a child cries unto his parents for nourishment and comfort so do Christians need to cry out unto their Heavenly Father through prayer.
Grace is bestowed upon those who pray unto God, for prayer is the means by which we receive God’s grace. As exemplified in the life of Hannah in 1 Samuel chapter one, we see Hannah offering up her plea in prayer (v11), persevering in prayer (v12), pouring out her soul in prayer (v15), and finally we see the peace that comforted her (v17-18) shortly following prayer.
One of the benefits of true prayer is the “peace of God, which passeth all understanding.” It is the comfort knowing that all our life’s circumstances is in the control and according to the perfect wisdom of our Almighty God. So come and join us for singing, an exhortation from God’s Word, and for a time of prayer. If you have any items of thanksgiving or prayer requests, come make it known unto God and the fellow brethren so that we may encourage one another in prayer.
